When Transition Is A Trying Road We Must Endure

Published Post author

The single most important key to understanding what transitions is for world societies is to think in terms of progress. Our greatest ideals, ideas, hopes and beliefs find themselves in reality but through a process. You’ve heard it before, “Nothing happens over night,” and you shouldn’t expect it to when looking at what’s possible for every human being alive.

But before we can truly understand the picture that becomes painted, we have to concede to a sad reality. First, we need the help of true professionals. Then we have to accept that the process will not be an easy one. Just think for a minute as to why. When making a real impact that everyone benefits from, we have to include everyone in that picture.

An Education Few People Have Access To

There’s a special field of study that’s required to truly transition current conditions of government and to the visions we see. These visions are made possible by people like Sujit Choudhry. Since entering college, to learn the basics of world impact, Sujit Choudhry has been involved in what is really a very intricate study.

This level of education is what enables him to be a pioneer for world governments and the people who reside with these powers of representation. The field of study, which Sujit Choudhry excels within, is called comparative constitutional law. And knowing the “in’s-and-out’s” of this study is something very few people can do.  More to read about Sujit on en.wikipedia.org.

End Citizens United Raises $4 Million Through Q1 Efforts

Published Post author

Through the first quarter of the 2017 fundraising season the team at End Citizens United has seen a rush in donations like they had never experienced before. End Citizens United managed to pull in an astounding $4 million quarter which set the team up nicely for their ultimate goal for the year: $35 million. The End Citizens United political action company was established by Tiffany Muller as a way to try and enforce some sort of change in terms of campaign finance reform. With so many people on the progressive and moderate side willing to get active, now is an important time in their lifespan.

The goal of the PAC has always been to address the infamous 2010 Supreme Court decision which featured the conservative group, Citizens United. Citizens United argued for looser campaign financing laws and they somehow managed to win and convince the court. This has led to a flood of dark money that has fundamentally scarred the way American politics works. How can we expect a politician who receives $1 million in donations from an oil company to vote for green energy on behalf of his or her constituents? The problem is evident and very few people outside of the progressive left are willing to confront it.

This makes the work of Tiffany Muller and the End Citizens United group so much more important. With the election of Donald Trump the left has been more encouraged and emboldened to fight for political change than ever. Muller claims that Democrats and independents are pretty much “furious” at Trump’s election and they doubled down on that fury with Trump’s Supreme Court stolen seat, handed to the most conservative Judge possible — Neil Gorsuch. This anger has manifested itself in the way of PAC donations and the End Citizens United PAC has seen nearly 100,000 people donate to their cause.

The team at End Citizens United knows that they have to make a serious push in the next year if they want to have any impact in Washington D.C. With the 2018 Congressional Elections right around the corner the team at End Citizens United will be focused on raising another $30 million or so. Their goal, ultimately, is to encourage and help fund progressive politicians who are willing to put their name on the line to get campaign finance reform on the bigger ticket. A partisan amendment hasn’t been passed at the congressional level since 1992 so it’s going to be a long shot no matter what.

Still, End Citizens United is backing politicians who are speaking out on behalf of the people and that should lead to progress no matter what. Fingers crossed for the 2018 elections and hope for a strong showing from End Citizens United.

Sujit Choudhry, Expert On Building Constituitonal Protections

Published Post author

In his role as founding director of the Center for Constitutional Transitions, Sujit Choudhry is often asked to explain the motivation behind its creation. There’s a tendency for confound expectations to drown out the importance of “emerging democracies.” He has worked in cooperation with policy making officials from 25 countries. This is the foundation of his work, to build an agenda to protect constitutional laws already in place. Or fix ones that may need revising and create new agendas for countries, enabling a global network of accessible knowledge.

Democratic organization policing isn’t in effect for every country. As Sujit Choudhry sees it, more academic research is needed to further the cause. This fall the Center will collaborate with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance to host three forums to discuss the various implications of protecting emerging democracies from political oversight. The forums are designed to help create larger networks of constitutional experts from around the globe.

Bringing a new understanding to Constitutional Transitions is the main focus of the work that Sujit Choudhry does. He’s a prominent professor at Berkeley School of Law. Holding the Ira Michael Heyman title there, which designates him as an expert authority on Comparative Constitutional Law and Politics. When he’s not teaching or fulfilling the requirements as the CEO/CFO for the Center, you can find him in his role as International Advisor. The role takes him to many diverse places abroad, such as Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Libya, Nepal and the Ukraine.  Check this on en.wikipedia.org.   He assists policy makers in these countries with emerging constitutional laws, needed to build effective democracies. Hence, the term “constitutional transitions,” is used in connection with field work and research projects.  For updates from Sujit, visit his linkedin.com page.
